Back at lastWell, I've been away from this site for quite a while; time to catch up.
Work has been done on improvements to our meeting bulletin 'The Keyway', ahead of getting this site (and our main site for Sarina Rotary ) up to date. But together, they represent a public face so I'll get to work.
Technology moves on, so I've added new rss feeds from Rotary International and a 'Latest Photos' album.
My new 3G phone should allow me to post new photos directly to this album. I'll be testing soon.
Apologies for getting behind.
Doug
21-27Aug - a busy weekThis week sees Sarina Rotary accelerating toward another busy weekend.
Partners night on Monday was reasonably hectic on account of food scheduling issues ( a long story),
an induction of new member Pamela, presentation by outgoing GSE rep and a lively unofficial debate about where to hold the Christmas Party.
Then, not only do we have Sarina Markets this weekend, But Charlie & Cartia have decided to get hitched after 20 something years together.
Saturday therefore includes setup for markets,
attend and enjoy the wedding, then front up early Sunday morning for market duties, breakfast (Al), bar & Raffle (the rest).
Charlie assures he will be there on Sunday selling tickets ("nah, I don't need a honeymoon")
And President Roy is squeezed between returning from a course in Brisbane and flying overseas next Monday.
Roll on Monday when all we have to do is get to work ! (except Roy) 5th/6th Aug 2006 - Sarina Show weekendWhat a great weekend (5th/6th August); the skies remained crystal blue for another annual Show day in Sarina.
Sarina Rotary, with much help from Pioneer valley sister clubs, manned the ticket gates, and the bar for many hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Sadly not many pictures Saturday night, but the evening was highlighted by a great competitive Rodeo, Fireworks, and a slight kerfuffle when the bar closed at midnight. (4 or 5 made the paddy-wagon - not Rotarians, I hasten to add.).
Haven't heard what the gate take was yet, but could well be a record.
Another successful year concluded on Sunday afternoon with all hands to move our benches and tables back to the Rotary shed ready for the next Sunday Markets on 27th August. Handover published in MidweekThis week's copy of Midweek, published by The Mackay Mercury, contains an article on the Handover Dinner we had on July 8th.
(see Press release in this blog). I suppose being a newspaper they choose their own words, but instead of saying Brian was 'just off camera', they said he was 'not present'. Sorry Brian.
We'll make it up to him with a 'Brian special' blog shortly. New President's first full meeting goes wellOur first meeting with Roy as President was a partner's night on Monday 31st July. John, returning member, gave a cameo of his life experiences; we got throught the business of the night leaving time for social engagement ( and the odd drink and joke). A good time was had by all. Pictures coming soon.
